I shared my life with cats for most of my life, I never had a dog. Sure, my friends had dogs but I was never really a fan. Once upon a time I carried pepper spray to protect me from dogs.
After moving to NH, my husband insisted we get a dog, we had almost 3 acres of land for a dog to run and play on. I was hesitant, but I told him we could get a small dog, it had to be like a cat, right?! My very first dog was a cockapoo named Fenway who was the BEST first dog EVER!
Years later, Brutus entered our life and my world was changed. He had some big feelings and we had to learn how to help him. Enrichment played a big part in increasing his confidence and because of our success, I wanted to share with others in the same situation.
I know how embarrassing, frustrating, and lonely it can be in this space and I want you to feel included, understood and supported.
Once we realized Brutus was a sensitive boy, it took me a while to find a trainer to help us, but then COVID. I dove in head first, taking classes and attending conferences to educate myself on how to help my boy feel safe in this “scary” world. I needed to figure out what to do so we could live the best life we could. My education continues as we continue on our journey. We have come so far over the last 4 years and our journey has led us here.
